Task 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Since our preliminary task I feel I have learnt great amounts. I have learnt more when it comes to planning for our media product to include our own clear sophisticated storyboards. Within our planning we had to think about details that we didn't for our preliminary, such as SFX's, Avtion and Lighting. Because our media product had to be our own original ideas and it had to be differant and unique, it took a much longer time than our preliminary. We also had to make everything clear and make sure that it followed a journey because we did not have dialogue, it was only visual. This meant the narrative and storyline had to be very clear. Our post production also took a much longer time than our post production for our preliminary. Shooting also took a lot longer because our preliminary had only very basic shots This was becuase our preliminary had basic shots where as our thriller product consisted of tracking shots around a table. extreme close-ups, panning shots, depth of field shots (with parts in focus and other parts not) and birdseyes view shots using a crane.

We also had to take more time to think about positioning of filming compared to the preliminary, checking that we were always in focus, that we hadn't crossed the 180 degree rule, not to jog the camera while filming, showing that we had developed more care into how we filmed.

Due to a faulty sound cable when filming our final thriller product we had to use 'Soundtrack pro' because the sound we recorded was un usable. We added in sound effects of doors opening and closing, guns shots, foot steps, sounds of drinks and ambient sounds of rooms (to create more of an atmosphere and it gave sense of tension). We did none of this for our preliminary. In our preliminary we had no ambient tension which made it bland and dead.

Once we had finished editing the shots in our thriller sequence, to make it more sophisticated and proffesional we used 'Final Cut' and 'After Effects'. In 'Fianl Cut' we added in titles and transitions. In 'After Effects' we added in a 'Muzzle Flash' from the gun and a 'blood splat' over the top of our ACE title. This gave the finishing touch that made it a bit more unique.
