Lighting
We had a standing light for the key light; at a 90 degree angle to this we had the fill light. The backlights we used got rid of the shadows on the back brick wall. The key light controls the brightness of light on set. Using this we made a low dim light to give the effect of a underground basement. The hanging light was there for effect, to make it look like a backroom. The studio lights above we turned out to represent the bulb.

This video clip is from the opening of Casino Royale. We like the very start of this video of the shot of the gun being pointed at the camera. We had originally wanted this to end our sequence, but decided against it on the day.

The built Set

This is what the set looked like when built. We had a few problems at the beginning of the day as we had confusion over where the door should go. We had started of with no door, and then we had a door put in for us.
On the day Lauren brought in her poker set which had a green felt mat which we placed on the table. Wre also had a smoke machine to add the smokey effect, that they had been smoking. We had the hanging light bulb above the table.

This video clip from Casino Royale influenced our ideas because we wanted it to not be too flashy like the big poker game in this film, this one had just the right amount of stakes. We also like how they builded it up to James Bonds rival putting his car keys in which. This idea we liked so much, we used it in our sequence.

Ace set design

We designed the set to make it look like it was underground and secret, while still haveing a rough edge. We wanted a brick wall background with no windows and a door. With a light bulb hanging to make it look like a basement. In the set we just wanted a round table for them to play poker on with a small bar in the corner where they can make drinks.
This photo attached is off our drawing of the set design.

Niki- Fur coat. red dress. Heels, diamond jewellery. red nails.
Guy- leather jacket. Black shirt. Black shiny shoes. black gloves.
Reason for costume choice:
We wanted them all to wear dark suits and ties, to make them look like serious rich gangtsers. Similar to the movies with the mafia. We wanted them in dark to make Niki playing the only female character to stand out. The dress was to symbolise her sexuality and dominance over the boys. She looked like a typical sex symbol young woman, with a differance that she was younger

On the day itself, we were well prepared and we had given ourselves time to set up the poker set. We set up all the chips and cards on the green felt that was placed on the table. We then made money, by printing out a picture of a 50£ note then cutting it out. Then cutting up chunks of paper that was the same size to place underneath, then putting an elastic band around it, to look like a wod of money.

Then we got the bottles and glasses out, filling the bottles with water for vodka and lime cordial for whiskey. We then cut up sliced of lemon and made the drinks. We also wanted to have stubs of cigarettes in the ashtray, so we went and found some outside.
The bottles we used were old whisky and vodka bottles that we decanted to fill with soft drink.
We had one problem on set, where there wasn't enough space for a bar, so we put a small table in the corner with a black cloth on the top. On this we placed some extra glasses we had and the bottles.

My Horror Movie Concept
entation1
View more presentations from hurtwoodhousemedia.
This is my thriller ideas presentation that I showed the class, in it is the idea, location, storyline, characters, concept, who, what, where and why.
What is a Thriller?
The genre ‘thriller’ has the intention to shock its audience. It is different from a Horror in that it is to keep the audience on the edge of their seats, keeping them waiting for the final answer. Usually a good thriller has a twist at the end that the audience are not expecting. When watching a thriller the audience tends to try and guess the hidden riddle/person/killer etc, therefore to make a good thriller it must keep the audience guessing and never be obvious. There are many types of thrillers, the most popular are these: Crime thrillers, Physiological thrillers, Conspiracy thrillers and Action thrillers.
